Joe & Rochelle Bieber are the founders of Proclaim Jesus & are missionaries in Santa Cruz, California. They have planted a local church, and have started house churches throughout the surrounding region.
They lead a team of missionaries with a strong emphasis on outreach & evangelism. Joe and Rochelle love partnering with churches through itinerant ministry nationally and internationally. Hosting revival meetings, training & activating them in evangelism.
Joe & Rochelle believe in the power of the Holy Spirit and that the gifts of The Spirit are for today.
They believe that leading someone to Jesus doesn’t just look like a prayer you pray, but a life surrendered to the Lord Jesus. They have a strong emphasis on people getting baptized in water and the Holy Spirit soon after conversion based off Acts 2:38 “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Who We Are
PROCLAIM JESUS STATEMENT OF FAITH
1. The Scriptures
We believe the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative written Word of God. It is the final rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct and cannot be added to or taken away from (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 22:18-19).
2. The One True God
We believe in one true and living God who eternally exists in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—co-equal and co-eternal. He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth and of all that exists. He is perfect in all His ways, and there is none like Him (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Genesis 1:1).
3. Man, His Fall, and Need for Salvation
We believe mankind was created in the image and likeness of God. Through Adam’s transgression, sin entered the world and death through sin, so that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Every person is born into Adam and stands in need of salvation (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12).
4. The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect sinless life, died a sinner’s death on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily from the dead on the third day. He is the only way to the Father and the only way to eternal life (John 1:1, 14; John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Colossians 2:9).
5. Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe salvation is the free gift of God received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not based on works. Through faith in His finished work on the cross, we are justified (declared righteous), born again by the Holy Spirit, and made new creations in Christ. Righteousness and eternal life are gifts that come only through believing in Him.
We believe that anyone can be saved and forgiven, no matter who they are or what they have done. The blood of Jesus is sufficient for every person and every sin (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:1, 17; John 3:3, 16; 2 Corinthians 5:17, 21; 1 John 1:7, 9; Romans 10:13).
6. Water Baptism
We believe water baptism by immersion is commanded by Jesus for every believer after they have placed their faith in Him. It is a place of surrender and a point of contact for faith, in which the old self dies and we are raised to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, sin no longer has authority over the believer (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-4; Acts 2:38).
7. Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe Jesus is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a distinct experience available to every believer subsequent to salvation. It empowers the believer for life and witness. The initial evidence of this baptism is speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance.
According to Mark 16:17-18, these signs will follow those who believe: they will speak with new tongues, cast out demons, and lay hands on the sick and they will recover. All believers can walk in this power by faith.
We also believe that the laying on of hands is still practiced today. It is a biblical means of impartation, healing, and the receiving of the Holy Spirit, just as it was in the early Church (Acts 8:17; Acts 9:17; Acts 19:6; 1 Timothy 4:14; Hebrews 6:1-2).
The book of Acts is not merely history but practical instruction for how the Church is to function today. The Church is called to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and to bear witness to the resurrected Jesus (Matthew 3:11; Mark 16:17-18; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:6).
8. Holiness and the Christian Life
We believe Jesus did not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it. Believers are not under the Old Testament law as a means of righteousness, yet we are called to a life of holiness, humility, faith, and love through the grace of Jesus Christ. His commands are not burdensome but an invitation to abundant life. The believer is to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, displaying Christ-likeness in every area of life (Matthew 5:13-16; John 1:17; 1 John 5:3; Colossians 1:27).
9. The Second Coming and Eternal Destinies
We believe Jesus Christ is coming again to judge the living and the dead. Heaven and hell are real places. Eternal life is found only in Jesus Christ. All other paths lead to eternal separation from God (Acts 1:11; Hebrews 9:27; John 14:6; Revelation 20:11-15).
10. The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ. It is not merely a community or gathering of believers, but a missionary people sent by Jesus to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. The Church is called to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, make disciples of all nations, and demonstrate the reality of the resurrected Jesus wherever it goes.
We believe the Church is under a five-fold government. These are the gifts of Christ given to equip, serve, and lead the Church: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers (Ephesians 4:11-13).
